Austin’s Pecan Street consortium gets $25,000 grant from Wells Fargo
Wells Fargo has awarded a $25,000 grant to smart grid and clean energy research consortium Pecan Street Inc. Wells Fargo provided more than $150,000 in environmental grants in 2011 to Austin organizations that support research and projects that further clean technology.
A research organization based at the University of Texas, Pecan Street is carrying out consumer-focused smart grid field research in Austin, including consumer field trials of electric vehicles, smart appliances, solar photovoltaic and home energy management systems. Its research teams include UT faculty and students, UT’s Austin Technology Incubator and major consumer technology companies.
